EC ORDERS PROBE INTO NUP’S WAKAYIMA AFTER NANSANA NRM MEMBERS CONTEST HIS ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
By Mulengera Reporters
The EC Secretary Leonard Mulekwa has written to Wakiso Returning Officer Tolbert Musinguzi directing him to investigate claims of two NRM cadres/mobilizers who have been protesting the circumstances under which NUP’s area coordinator Wakayima Nsereko Musoke Hannington got nominated for the position of Nansana Municipality MP.
Dirisa Sebide Lukwago and Cosia Mitala Sekirunda, both of them NRM mobilizers, first wrote to Musinguzi seeking to block Wakayima’s nomination and when he ignored them and nominated him, they appealed to EC headquarters in Kampala from where Mulekwa has since directed Musinguzi to investigate their claim on its merit.
Their contention is that they have information showing that the results or grade Wakayima scored at St. Joseph Primary School Nansana didn’t qualify him to be admitted into S1 yet he was able to get admitted to Old Kampala SS. They are claiming that Wakayima was admitted at Old Kampala with a certificate showing he scored 8 aggregates, a thing they want the EC to inquire into and potentially revoke his nomination for the MP Seat.
Their other issue of contention relates to the order of Wakayima’s names. That his national ID, issued last month, shows he is officially Wakayima Musoke Hannington Nsereko and yet the deed poll he deponed reflected a different order of names-presenting him as Wakayima Musoke Nsereko Hannington and to them, this is a discrepancy that merits inquiring into.
