At this rate, Capt Francis Babu will need divine intervention to stand any lukewarm chance at becoming the 1st national vice chairman for the ruling NRM party. Just on his 2nd day of vigorous campaigning, the indomitable Al-Haji Moses Kigongo has had many legislators and other leaders, including some from Babu’s Kampala Central, reaching out to him volunteering to spearhead his campaigns. One of these is Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, a big-name NRM mobilizer from Kisenyi in Kampala Central Division which Capt Babu represented for all the years his wife Margaret Nantongo Zziwa was woman MP for Kampala. Ms Kabanda has since been tasked the role of managing Kigongo’s campaigns for the whole of KMP (basically Kampala, Wakiso & Mukono).

Yet that isn’t all. Kigongo has also this Tuesday constituted his official campaign taskforce that comprises of the following people; Nansana Municipality MP Robert Kasule Sebunya, Buvuma MP Robert Migadde (Greater Mukono), Namutumba Woman MP Mariam Naigaga (Busoga zonal coordinator), Bunyole West MP James Waluswaka (Bukedi), Bulambuli MP Alex Bulundo (Bugisu), Kotido Woman MP Margaret Aleper (Karamoja Zone), Bukwo MP Lawrence Chimusto (Sebei), Ngora County MP David Aballa (Teso zone), Dokolo North MP Paul Amoru (Lango zone), Adjumani woman MP Jessica Ababiku (West Nile), Catherine Nalamira (Kigezi), Nakaseke woman MP Sarah Najjuma (Greater Luwero), Fort Portal Municipality MP Alex Ruhunda (Tooro & Rwenzori), Mawokota South MP JB Lubyayi (Greater Mpigi), Kalungu woman MP Aisha Sekindi (Greater Masaka) and Western region youth MP Mpaka Mwine (Greater Ankole).

All this is happening at a time when NRM big-names are yet to publicly associate themselves with the candidature of the belligerent Capt Francis Babu. And as we reported yesterday, the Kigongo national force coordinators Faruk Kirunda (head) and Hajjat Faridah Kiboowa (deputy head) have strategized to split the country into mobilizational zones with each campaigning zone being coordinated by a committee headed by a sitting Member of Parliament and this is clearly reflected in the National Taskforce the soft-spoken Haji unveiled this Tuesday afternoon (see related reporting on the Kigongo bid https://mulengeranews.com/why-kigongo-wont-pay-anyone-to-vote-for-him/; https://mulengeranews.com/m7s-aide-reveals-why-al-hajji-kigongo-is-nrms-strong-pillar/).
