By Mulengera Reporters

Just like blogger Ashburg Kato (real names Ashraf Ben Ssuuna) did earlier this week, the following are some of Gen Museveni’s political opponents who cracked, stopped opposing him and famously defected to his ruling NRM. The anticipation was that such much publicized defections wouldn’t only demoralize opposition supporters but would also significantly contribute to Gen Museveni’s efforts to totally wipe out opposition to his rule, a dream that has continued to remain elusive.

Those who have prominently converted from opposing to promoting and supporting Gen Museveni have over the years included Tamale Mirundi, Nasser Sebaggala, Sarah Nkonge, Aggrey Awori, Jacob Oulanyah, Henry Mayega, Ahmed Washaki, Eric Sakwa, Moses Nuwagaba, Kyeyune Senyonjo, Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, Francis Runumi, Beti Kamya, Betty Amongi, Mzee Badru Wegulo (RIP), Stephen Malinga, Maria Mutagamba, Anita Amongi, Joseph Luzige, Beatrice Anywar, Rubaramira Ruranga, Nakiwala Kiyingi, Moses Eric Makumbi, Robert Sebunya, Mulindwa Muwonge, Omara Atubo, Mohammed Kezaala, James Ozo Birungi, Francis Atugonza, Gen David Sejusa, Dr. Hillary Musoke, Eria Kategaya, Mwaka Lutukumoi, Full Figure and Fred Nyanzi just to mention a few.

It remains to be seen how Ashburg Kato (a former MTN shop attendant in Kabalagala), by all means a political novice, will move mountains and totally obliterate the opposition in the ghettoes of Kampala and other townships where other more formidable defectors have been failing over the years.
