DP President Norbert Mao on Tuesday registered his contempt for the group of UYD leaders who days earlier converged in Jinja and demanded for reforms in DP while making it clear that their party wasn’t being ruin properly. They had no kind words for Mao who has been DP President since 2010.
He says the group is full of ignorant members and social climbers who are a disgrace to the UYD good brand which he says deserves respect and credit for producing many of today’s leading political figures even though they are scattered under different political formations.
He claimed that every decent and reasonable political leader today have their background in UYD, which he said played a very important role of re-energizing change-seeking forces at the time when Gen Museveni had banned and criminalized political pluralism.
Mao claimed the guys who met and addressed reporters in Jinja are mere proxies who have financially been facilitated by one of his political adversaries to keep making noise in order to portray him as incapable of properly leading DP, for which UYD is the youth wing.
“They don’t even know what UYD stands for and what it’s all about. They are just on someone else’s pay as you earn,” said Mao during a specially-convened news conference which was organized to enable him officially declare interest in becoming the next Speaker of Parliament.
