Kawempe North MP Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya returned today from the hospital in the Netherlands with some disheartening news. The MP said he was informed by his doctors that he might not have much time to live.
Ssegirinya shared the news upon arrival at Entebbe International. He was however particularly unhappy with some of his party members, who badmouthed him while on his hospital bed.
The MP singled out the party deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro who purported that he faked his illness.
Ssegirinya said he said if his death comes as soon as the medics have projected, Mufumbiro must never be allowed at his funeral
“I am sending this message to my mother; the man who said that I faked my illness, I know for sure from what the doctors have told me, that I will die before him…but he must never come to my funeral,” said the teary MP.
“You cannot make a statement like that, I left this place dying. See what I look like now. I was nearly 100kg, I am now only 46kgs.”
The Deputy NUP mouthpiece Mufumbiro recently launched a scathing attack on Ssegirinya in a social media stream, accusing him of running to Kampala MP Muhammad Nsereko for help with his medical bills in the Amsterdam Hospital.
Mufumbiro in the lengthy rant went as far as questioning if Ssegirinya was really as sick as he claimed.
“You went to the airport walking by yourself, not in a wheelchair. You took an 8-hour flight. It was only when you got to the hospital that you somehow deteriorated…” he said.
“We know that there are people who feign sickness to push through their other interests and you are not in isolation.”
Ssegirinya was discharged last week from the Amsterdam UMC hospital where he underwent treatment for different ailments ranging from skin cancer to gastrointestinal complications.
The MP said he was instructed to keep checking back with the hospital to monitor his progress. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [whatsapp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
